Your RV is undergoing a hurricane and an earthquake every time it’s moved. Things are going to break. You’ll tighten half of the screws in it over the course of its life. Most RV owners don’t mind doing many repairs ourselves. It’s also nice to be able to help someone else out, too! So most of us carry some sort of tool kit with us to be able to make these repairs on the go, and not let it ruin our trip. Forest River RV published the tool kit list below, and it’s a good one. One thing to add is to be sure to have the correct size socket for your water heater drain. Most kits don’t come with a 1 1/4″ socket, and you might need it. You’ll be amazed at how much you can do with a cordless screwdriver and a square-head bit!
When it’s time to go camping, it will be important to take along a basic tool kit for setting up your RV, performing minor repairs and making occasional adjustments. See the Owner’s Manual for a detailed list but the following is an abbreviated overview of these items:
- Screwdrivers – slotted, Phillips, square head.
- Carpenter’s bubble level.
- Tape Measure.
- Tire pressure gauge.
- Electrical tape.
- Duct tape.
- Plastic zip ties.
- Razor knife.
- Volt meter.
- Hammer.
- Pliers – standard and needle nose.
- Crescent wrench.
- Open-ended wrenches of various sizes.
- Socket set.
- Battery operated screw gun and charger.
- Screw bits – slotted, Phillips, square head.
- Various screw gun drive sockets.
